72-year-old Gainesville woman killed in Clay County crash, 1 in critical condition: Florida Highway Patrol

A 72-year-old Gainesville woman was killed in Clay County Monday afternoon after a pickup truck crashed into her SUV, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

The passenger of the SUV, whose identification is pending, was also critically injured, FHP said.

FHP said the crash occurred on State Road 21, just north of Dade Road, around 4:30 p.m. in Clay County when the pickup truck, which was heading north, entered the roadway’s southbound lane and crashed into the front of the SUV.

Medical personnel said the woman died at the scene.
