76-year-old pedestrian killed on SR 436

A 76-year-old woman from Egypt was struck and killed by a vehicle while she was attempting to cross State Road 436.

The fatal accident took place near the intersection of SR 436 and Jewel Drive on Saturday, November 25, at around 6:28 p.m.

According to a report from the Florida Highway Patrol, the woman was walking in a southerly direction when she entered the eastbound lanes of the roadway. The woman was not in a marked crosswalk.

Upon entering the roadway, the woman was struck by a 2011 Dodge Grand Caravan that was being driven by a 31-year-old Apopka man.

The woman was transported to AdventHealth Altamonte Springs, where she was pronounced deceased.

The driver as well as his two passengers, a 31-year-old Apopka woman and a 3-month-old infant, were not injured in the crash.
