A Chipley man is dead after a car accident on Wednesday morning. The accident happened on SR-20 east of the Strickland Road intersection.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, a 79-year-old male was leaving the Econfina Creek Landing parking area in a Toyota Tacoma. Authorities say the driver didn’t see the Mack truck traveling West on SR-20, East of the Strickland Road intersection.

Officials say the driver of the Mack truck (with trailer) was a 42-year-old man from Crawfordville. He was not able to stop in time and collided with Tacoma on the driver’s side.

Although medical treatment was given to the driver of the Tacoma on scene, he was transported to the hospital, where he passed away.
