79-year-old Pensacola woman killed in crash, two passengers in 70s seriously injured

A 79-year-old Pensacola woman died in a single-vehicle crash Wednesday afternoon.

It happened around 2:50 p.m. on Highway 97 just south of Tungoil Rd. in Escambia County.

FHP says the 79-year-old woman was driving south in a minivan on Highway 97 from Tungoil Road when the vehicle left the roadway to the left and collided with a tree.

The 79-year-old woman was pronounced dead on scene. Her two passengers — Pensacola women ages 78 and 75 — were both flown to Sacred Heart Hospital with serious injuries.
