8-year-old child struck by cyclist, taken to hospital

An 8-year-old was taken to the hospital after being hit by a bicycle in Fort Myers around 10 a.m. on Thursday.

The Fort Myers Police Department says the 57-year-old cyclist was riding along Edwards Drive before hitting the child.

Police say the adult was taken to Gulf Coast Medical Center.

Officers say the child was taken to Golisano Children’s Hospital.

FMPD adds that transportation was cautionary.
