80-year-old woman dead after Englewood crash

An 80-year-old woman was killed after a crash in Englewood Wednesday afternoon.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, a sedan was headed south on Pine Street, south of 5th Street.

At around 1:13 p.m., the sedan was driving in the right lane and tried to make a U-turn across traffic. An SUV in the left lane reportedly crashed into the sedan.

The sedan driver was critically injured and taken to a local hospital. She was later pronounced dead, FHP said.

The crash remains under investigation by FHP.
