An 86-year-old Indialantic man struck and killed an elderly pedestrian while driving along State Road A1A on Thursday evening, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
In a release, troopers said that the driver was heading south along the highway toward Eau Gallie Boulevard just as the pedestrian was crossing the highway.
“(The pedestrian) was not in a marked crosswalk and entered the direct path of (the vehicle),” the release reads.
As a result, the driver crashed into the pedestrian, troopers explained.
While the driver was uninjured, the release shows that the pedestrian — identified only as an 81-year-old woman from Indian Harbour Beach — later died at the hospital.
No additional information has been provided at this time.
