88-year-old Gainesville woman killed in car crash

A Gainesville woman was killed in a car accident on Saturday night.

Florida Highway Patrol says the 88-year-old was driving south of County Road 237, and a pickup truck was driving on U.S. 441 in Alachua County.

The woman tried to cross the northbound lanes of U.S. 441 but got in the way of the pickup truck and crashed.

First responders pronounced the woman dead on the scene, and the driver of the pickup truck was minorly injuries.
