Naples Fire Rescue says nine people are injured, and seven were taken to local hospitals, after a structural collapse at La Trattoria on 5th Avenue South in Naples around 6:44 p.m. Sunday.
The Battalion Chief requested a Level 1 Mass Casualty Incident be dispatched.
The restaurant was evacuated. Fire and EMS units checked the building for hazards.
Ginanna Morris of Naples said, “We were going to come eat here, and I’m just glad we ended up doing other things before we came.”
Naples Fire Rescue says La Trattoria will be closed pending an investigation and repairs.
Fire Rescue Chief Corey Adamski said, “It’s not a very common thing, you know, it happens every now and then. Unfortunately, with the number of occupants in the building at the time, we ended up with nine patients injured. It’s a lot.”
The department adds no neighboring buildings were affected.
