Bicyclist dies after being struck by truck at West Palm Beach intersection

A bicyclist has died days after he was hit by a truck while traveling in West Palm Beach.

According to the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office (PBSO), on May 9, Joseph Albert was riding his bike in the crosswalk near the intersection of Collin Drive.

Around the same time, a man driving a 2020 Ford F-150 was approaching the intersection of Collin Drive and Kirk Road, which is controlled by a stop sign, according to PBSO’s crash report.

PBSO says as Albert, 69, was crossing Kirk Road, the driver of the Ford F-150 accelerated while turning from west to south and caused the front of the vehicle to impact the bicyclist. That’s when the bicyclist was thrown from the bike and came to a rest on the pavement. The Ford F-150 came to a rest within the northbound travel lanes.

On Monday, Albert was pronounced dead, according to PBSO.
