UPDATE: The fire started at approximately 9:40 a.m. Firefighters said they observed smoke emanating from the front right corner of the establishment. All individuals inside the restaurant had successfully evacuated before the arrival of emergency crews.

Firefighting personnel worked diligently for over 45 minutes to contain and extinguish the fire.

Walton County Fire Rescue and several other agencies are on the scene of a structure fire at Burger King located at 1628 US Hwy 331 South in the City of DeFuniak Springs.

According to officials, the entire structure has received intensive smoke and water damage throughout. However, officials confirmed no injuries have been reported.

One southbound lane of Highway 331 S is shut down at this time, officials said.

The City of DeFuniak Springs Fire Department, Friends of Liberty Volunteer Fire District, and Argyle Volunteer Fire Department also responded.

Fire officials urge locals to use caution as firefighters work the scene.

The State of Florida Fire Marshall’s Office will be working alongside Fire Inspectors with the City to determine cause and origin.
