34-year-old driver dies in head-on crash on Heckscher Drive

A man died after he lost control while traveling on Heckscher Drive and was ejected from the vehicle on Monday afternoon.

The Florida Highway Patrol said the 34-year-old Sports Utility Vehicle driver was headed east on Heckscher Drive as a 57-year-old SUV driver was traveling west.

The 34-year-old lost control and veered onto the right shoulder. FHP said he overcorrected to regain control of the vehicle, causing him to slam into the 57-year-old’s vehicle head-on.

The 34-year-old was thrown out of the SUV.

The FHP report said the 34-year-old was not wearing a seatbelt. He died on the scene.

The other driver suffered serious injuries.
