A man was killed late Monday night in what the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office is calling a hit-and-run crash.
Police were called around 11:45 p.m. to the back parking lot of the Walgreens at 7224 Merrill Road, where they found a man in his mid-50s unresponsive. He died at the scene.
Officers say evidence leads them to believe the man was hit by a car and then dragged for a short distance before he died.
JSO said the driver sped away from the scene.
Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact JSO at 904-630-0500 or relay information anonymously through First Coast CrimeStoppers at 866-845-TIPS to possibly be eligible for a cash reward.
