The Florida Highway Patrol said a 39-year-old man from Palatka, who was ejected from his SUV after a crash in Putnam County, died on Tuesday.
The crash occurred around 4:30 p.m. on U.S. Highway 17’s southbound lanes near Carraway Street, FHP said.
According to the agency, the man began losing control of his SUV and drove onto the roadway’s shoulder and, in an attempt to regain control, “overcorrected” and ended up crossing over multiple lanes.
He then crashed into a median, which caused his vehicle to flip over and led to his ejection, FHP said.
The driver was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.
