Police: Man fatally shot at Pensacola Village Apartments; third violent incident in a week

A man was fatally shot at an apartment complex in Pensacola on Friday evening.

The shooting occurred outside of Pensacola Village Apartments around 6:15 p.m. Police say the man could’ve been shot somewhere between buildings P and E.

According to police, the victim had one gunshot wound to the chest. The first sergeant to arrive on scene performed CPR on the victim.

The victim was transported to Baptist Hospital. However, he did not make it.

Police say the suspect is believed to be a male. No one is in custody as of yet.

Pensacola Police are still investigating.

It’s their third investigation in a week involving deadly force at the apartment complex.

“This week, we’ve had a stabbing. We’ve had another shooting and we’ve had a homicide today,” said Officer Mike Wood. “All within a week.”

Last Friday, a woman was stabbed in the chest. On Wednesday, a man was shot and injured. Friday, another man was shot to death all at Pensacola Village Apartments.

“We made an arrest with the female who was stabbed in the chest,” Wood said. “We have made an arrest on that. The male who was shot in the leg, we’re still working on that one. And obviously this is an active case. We’re still working on this one.”

35-year-old NM was arrested for stabbing the woman. He is charged with aggravated battery.

M was booked into the Escambia County Jail on a $100,000 bond Wednesday. Based on last week’s footage WEAR News got on the scene, all the crimes appear to have happened in the same area.

“We already got officers that work here everyday off-duty. We have officers that pass through here numerous times a day,” said Wood. “We have surveillance systems. We’ve done a lot here. And unfortunately, we’re still having problems.”
