The Florida Highway Patrol is looking for a vehicle that struck a pedestrian before leaving the scene in Osceola County, according to a news release.
Troopers said the crash happened on April 29 around 12:38 a.m. on Osceola Parkway near Plumwood Circle.
According to a crash report, a Toyota Camry was traveling east on Osceola Parkway, east of Plumwood Circle in the center lane.
Troopers said at the same time, an unknown vehicle was also traveling east Osceola Parkway, east of Plumwood Circle.
According to the report, a pedestrian was walking south and when they entered the direct path of the Camry not in a marked crosswalk.
Troopers said the left front of the Camry struck the pedestrian, which caused the victim – later identified as a 41-year-old Kissimmee man – to be partially propelled into the inside and center lanes and into the direct path of the second, unknown vehicle.
According to the FHP, the unknown vehicle’s undercarriage struck the man who was lying in the road.
Troopers said the drier of the Camry was not injured and stayed on the scene. The driver of the second vehicle fled the scene heading east on Osceola Parkway.
The pedestrian was taken to HCA Florida Osceola Hospital where he was later pronounced dead on May 9, according to the FHP.
Troopers said the second vehicle is possibly a white Mercedes SUV and that the crash was caught on video.
Anyone with information about the crash is asked to contact the FHP at *347 or Crimeline at 800-423-tips.
The crash remains under investigation.
