The Walton County Sheriff’s Office responded to a dump truck collision on Tuesday evening, June 3.
According to a WCSO Facebook post, the Walton County Sheriff’s Office, Walton County Fire Rescue, Argyle Volunteer Fire Department and City of DeFuniak Springs Fire Department responded to a truck on fire at a property off of Sherwood Road in DeFuniak Springs.
Upon arrival, officials discovered the dump truck had struck a power line and caught fire. This had happened as the truck was dumping landscaping debris on the property.
The WCSO reported that the driver of the dump truck died at the scene.
The Choctawhatchee Electric Cooperative Inc. and the Florida Highway Patrol responded. But the power was temporarily out in the area.
The investigation remained ongoing Tuesday night, and no further information was immediately available.
