New details were released in the stabbing of a 13-year-old that occurred in Volusia County back in May.
Deputies announced on Tuesday that they had arrested the actual teenager responsible for stabbing the 13-year-old and his mother, who lied to detectives during the investigation.
“She’s going to be my nominee for Mother of the Year. You’re son’s out there stabbing people and you’re creating an alibi to have him not be held accountable, well now we’re going to hold you accountable,” Volusia County Sheriff Mike Chitwood said.
Volusia County detectives say that after the mom provided a false alibi, they were able to use the 15-year-old’s cell phone data and other evidence to tie Aidan to the attack.
Bodycam video shows deputies responding to the residence of the 15-year-old, telling him he’s under arrest and that his mother was taken into custody. However, deputies quickly learned he wasn’t in the home.
VCSO says it was quickly learned he was in Sanford, a city in Seminole County, with his grandmother, who was driving him into Volusia County to surrender to deputies.
CBS12 reported on the arrest of a 13-year-old boy who was charged with aggravated battery after he was accused of orchestrating and planning an attack that led to the stabbing.
The 13-year-old that was stabbed multiple times after being jumped by three boys, VCSO says. He was taken to a nearby hospital due to the severity of his injuries.
Chitwood said since the arrest of the 15-year-old, the case will be closed and handed over to the State Attorney.
