A small plane crashed Wednesday afternoon into the Indian River in Melbourne Beach, but everyone on board is safe thanks to a good Samaritan.
A Brevard County Sheriff’s Office spokesperson said in a statement that the agency was at the scene near the 3000 block of River Villa Way, where the single-engine plane went down.
According to the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission, FWC officers responded in coordination with the sheriff’s office and reported preliminary information indicating there were two individuals and a dog on board the airplane at the time of the crash.
All of the plane’s occupants made it safely to shore with the assistance of a good Samaritan and are in good condition, an FWC spokesperson said in a statement.
No word yet on what caused the plane to crash. FWC and the sheriff’s office are collecting evidence for the Federal Aviation Administration, which is leading the investigation.
No further details were immediately available.
