A woman has died after a two-vehicle crash left her vehicle in a canal on Burnt Store Road on Wednesday night.
According to the Cape Coral Police Department, officers jumped into the water and pulled the woman from the vehicle that was submerged in a canal. Three of the officers suffered minor injuries during rescue efforts.
This happened just south of Gulfstream Parkway around 11:30 p.m. All lanes were shut down at the time.
A body was seen at the scene. Additionally, one of the vehicles involved was in a canal.
A dive team was present at the scene as well as a fire truck and CCPD presence.
At this time, she is believed to be the only occupant.
Tow trucks towed the cars involved in the crash.
Police believe impairment was a factor in the crash, and the investigation is ongoing.
