Woman killed in crash after driver blows stop sign in Spring Hill: Florida Highway Patrol

A woman is dead and two more are injured after a driver in Spring Hill failed to stop at a stop sign, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

At around 2 a.m. on Sunday, a Hyundai Santa Fe, driven by an 18-year-old Port Richey man, was going south on Lema Drive. Meanwhile, a Chevy Malibu, driven by a 36-year-old Spring Hill woman, was going east on Spring Hill Drive.

When the drivers arrived at the intersection, the Hyundai failed to stop at a posted stop sign, hitting the left side of the Chevy, FHP said.

Both vehicles continued traveling across the intersection, and the Chevy crashed into a utility pole and a tree. The woman driving the Chevy suffered fatal injuries.

The passengers in the Hyundai, two teen girls aged 17 and 18, as well as the driver, suffered minor injuries and were transported to area hospitals.
