Crash in Marion County kills 81-year-old woman

 An 81-year-old woman from Summerfield is dead after being hit by a sedan early Sunday morning.

According to Florida Highway Patrol troopers, a 24-year-old woman from Ocala was driving her sedan northbound on US Highway 301 north of Southeast 169th Street at around 1:30 a.m.

The 81-year-old woman was walking across the northbound lanes of US Highway 301 when the 24-year-old hit the woman.

Troopers say the 81-year-old died at the scene. FHP is currently investigating the crash.
