A 23-year-old Virginia man was behind bars Monday after police officers found him attacking another man in Miami’s Brickell neighborhood, records show.
Miami police officers intervened when they found JJ with his arms wrapped around the man’s neck, according to a police arrest report.
J, of Farmville, “reached with his left hand and attempted to grab [a police officer’s] weapon during his arrest on Saturday near Mary Brickell Village, according to the arrest report.
Court records show prosecutors filed a case against J on Sunday. He faced charges of unlawful taking of a law enforcement officer’s firearm, resisting arrest with violence, battery, and disorderly conduct.
A judge ordered him to stay away from the domestic violence victim and set his bond at $2,650. Miami-Dade County Circuit Judge AM was set to preside over the case.
