A 60-year-old Pensacola man is dead after a crash in Escambia County on Monday.
Troopers say the incident occurred around 5:45 p.m. on Sorrento Road near the intersection of Bauer Road.
The 60-year-old man was traveling westbound in a Toyota Prius on Sorrento Road and crossed into the eastbound lanes for unknown reasons.
The car subsequently collided head-on with a 43-year-old Pensacola man driving eastbound in a Ford pickup truck, according to FHP.
Emergency personnel responded quickly to the scene and immediately began life-saving efforts on the 60-year-old driver.
Troopers say, despite the efforts of first responders, the driver was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The driver of the Ford pickup was transported to a nearby medical facility for evaluation and treatment.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation by FHP.
