A woman on Fountain Street in Fort Myers rang her neighbor’s doorbell in a panic, bleeding and pleading for help after what she described as a violent home invasion by her nephew.
Home surveillance video captured the terrifying moment the woman approached her neighbor’s door, just before 10 p.m. on Thursday.
“Call 911 for me — he took my phone and everything,” she says in the video, clearly distressed.
The woman told her neighbor that her nephew, identified as MR, had just forced his way into her home and was holding two machetes.
“He came in the house with two big machetes and he threatened,” she says, before explaining that he had slashed her hand with one of the blades.
According to her account, R also stole three phones from her home before fleeing the scene on a bicycle.
Fort Myers police responded quickly and located R two miles away, walking along Superior Street. Officers arrested him. R now faces charges of home invasion and aggravated battery.
