A Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office deputy shot and killed a man outside of an apartment complex in the unincorporated West Little River area Tuesday evening.
The shooting happened at Northwest 85th Street Road and Fourth Court within the Sunset Palm Villas Association complex, located just outside the Miami city limits.
An MDSO spokesperson said a deputy with the agency’s Robbery Intervention Detail tried to pull over the man, driving a yellow Chevrolet Corvette, at Northwest 66th Street and 22nd Court at around 5:15 p.m. for having dark tints.
Deputies said the driver, whom they didn’t identify except to say he was a man in his 20s, did not stop and authorities were able to track it to the complex.
According to MDSO, the driver got out, was armed and a single deputy, who hasn’t been publicly identified, shot and killed him.
The driver was the only person in the vehicle, deputies said.
The Florida Department of Law Enforcement will investigate the shooting, as is standard procedure, according to MDSO.
