A 26-year-old Orlando man was killed early Thursday when a pickup truck hauling a trailer turned into the path of his motorcycle on Sand Lake Road, the Florida Highway Patrol said.
The fatal two-vehicle wreck happened around 12:15 a.m. on Sand Lake Road near Sand Lake Pointe Loop, north of State Road 528 and west of Orlando International Airport.
The FHP said a 43-year-old New Mexico man was driving a 2024 Ram 3500, with a trailer attached, east on Sand Lake and made a U-turn, traveling into the direct path of a westbound motorcycle.
The motorcycle struck the right side of the trailer, and the motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene, according to an FHP crash report.
The pickup driver was not injured and remained on site, troopers said.
Westbound lanes of Sand Lake Road were closed in the area after the fatal wreck, but they were later reopened, the FHP said.
An investigation is ongoing.
