An 18-year-old motorcyclist died on Sunday morning after crashing into an SUV on Mathews Bridge, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
FHP said both vehicles were heading west on the bridge when the motorcycle, which was driving “at a high rate of speed,” struck the back of the SUV.
The motorcycle’s driver died from his injuries at the scene, the agency said.
The SUV’s driver and three passengers, who included two children, were not injured in the crash.
The westbound Mathews Bridge was closed following the crash, according to JSO, but has since reopened.
