Man dies, woman severely injured following Northwest Jacksonville crash between motorcycle and SUV, police say

The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office said a man has died and a woman is in the hospital with life-threatening injuries after an SUV crashed into their motorcycle in Northwest Jacksonville on Thursday afternoon.

JSO said the man, 60, was driving his motorcycle east on Garden Street with a 50-year-old female passenger as an SUV was driving west on the same street around 6 p.m.

The SUV pulled into the path of the motorcyclist as he made a left turn onto Jones Road, and the motorcycle crashed into the passenger side of the SUV, police said.

The motorcycle’s driver and passenger were thrown from the vehicle as a result of the crash.

Medical personnel said the man died at the scene and the woman was taken to the hospital with severe injuries.

JSO said the driver remained at the scene and is cooperating.

This is the 79th traffic fatality in Duval County in 2025 and the 18th involving a motorcyclist.

The agency added that Jones Road at Garden Street will be shut down for another hour as investigators collect evidence.
