A deadly crash shut down the southbound lanes of Florida’s Turnpike on Friday, according to Florida Highway Patrol.
Troopers were dispatched to the crash on the Turnpike at Coral Reef Drive at around 1:25 a.m.
All lanes remained shut down as of 7 a.m.
Details about what caused the crash and who was killed were not immediately available.
“It’s impacting other exit- and on-ramps as well, like on the Don Shula Expressway to the Turnpike heading southbound, that off-ramp is completely blocked off to due to that fatal crash,” NBC6’s traffic reporter Johanna Torres said.
Take U.S. 1 or Southwest 107th Avenue as an alternate route.
This is a developing story.
