A man who was shot by his mother’s neighbor after a parking dispute in Little Havana on Monday is speaking out.
According to Miami Police, officers arrived at Southwest 27th Avenue and Fifth Street after receiving reports of a shooting.
Once at the scene, a man with apparent gunshot wounds was found.
NBC6 spoke with the victim who said he’s lucky to be alive.
EM said it all started when he was visiting his mother just after 6 a.m. in Little Havana.
He told NBC6 that he parked his car in front of a white pick-up truck that belonged to the neighbor, who asked him to move it.
When M moved his car, he said he was walking back to his mother’s apartment when the neighbor came out with a gun.
“‘I kill you everything, I kill your family!'”, he said. “He’s crazy. I call the police.”
With help from his stepfather, M said he wrestled the shooter to the ground and attempted to disarm the man.
During the struggle, he was cut in several areas of his body.
Police said the shooter ran off from the scene before they arrived.
M, who is now seeking medical treatment, is dismayed and worried his mother’s neighbor, the alleged shooter, will come back.
“Maybe, I think so, he will come back,” he said.
Miami police confirmed that they’re still looking for the shooter but they do not have a description to release at the moment.
M has a graze wound on his leg but is expected to be OK.
