A mother who had been drinking shoved a police officer in the face during a family fracas.
Officers responded to a domestic dispute between 27-year-old AHH of Williston and the father of her children at a home on Belle Oak Drive around 12:50 a.m. Sunday, according to an arrest report from the Leesburg Police Department.
Upon arrival, the officers met with the father. He advised that they were at a friend’s house when H wanted to leave with their children. He objected due to concerns for the children’s safety, as H had been drinking alcohol and was not in a condition to drive. He also stated she got aggressive when under the influence of alcohol, which had been an ongoing issue in their relationship, the report said.
Meanwhile, another officer was getting a statement from H for her side of the story. He then began speaking to the father, and she repeatedly screamed at law enforcement. She tried to approach but was told to stay back so the officers could finish the investigation, the report said.
H backed off for about 10 seconds before suddenly coming up to the father and trying to grab their infant child, who was crying and being held by him. Fearing for the child’s safety, the officers intervened to prevent her from forcefully taking the child, the report said.
At that point, H turned and confronted an officer. She pushed him in the face with an open hand and bent his glasses. The other officers immediately tried to take her into custody, and she actively resisted for 15 seconds before being subdued, the report said.
H was arrested on charge of battery on officer/firefighter/EMT and immediately taken to Lake County Jail due to her aggressive behavior. She was released after posting $5,000 bond.
