Two Alabama pedestrians were hit and killed by a car in Escambia County on Saturday morning, according to FHP.

The incident occurred on Perdido Key Drive near River Road around 3:00 a.m. when a 47-year-old Pensacola man driving a sedan was traveling east on State Road 292 and struck the two individuals while they were crossing the roadway.

Troopers, the pedestrians, a 20-year-old Hoover man, and a 20-year-old Calera woman were pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the car was not injured, according to FHP.

Perdido Key Drive was shut down due to the accident but has now reopened.

ESCAMBIA COUNTY, Fla. — Two people were hit by a car Saturday morning in Escambia County, according to Escambia County officials.

The incident occurred on Perdido Key Drive near River Road around 3:00 a.m.

Two helicopters were called to the scene but were called off mid-flight.

Perdido Key Drive was shut down because of the accident.

The Florida Highway Patrol is on the scene.

We are waiting for confirmation on the victim’s condition.
