A house fire in Fort Pierce claimed a life and displaced a resident and their dog Sunday morning, prompting an investigation into the cause of the blaze.
The St. Lucie County Sheriff’s Office (SLCSO) said that firefighters from St. Lucie County Fire Rescue received reports from neighbors who saw smoke and flames coming from a home nearby at 10:15 a.m.
When crews arrived at the home in the 6300 block of E. Seminole Road in Lakewood Park, they worked to put out the fire.
Unfortunately, they reported finding one person dead inside the residence.
Additionally, SLCSO said that one adult and a dog were displaced by the fire.
SLCSO officials, along with the Florida State Fire Marshal’s Office, are investigating the cause of the blaze. As of now, officials said the investigation is still ongoing.
