A woman was arrested Sunday after a baby was found with fractured bones.
Alachua County Sheriff’s deputies arrested G, 22, after they say she beat her four-month-old daughter, who suffered six fractures that required surgery.
According to the arrest report, G had another child who was previously separated from her due to abuse allegations.
Family members who live with G told authorities they were afraid for the baby’s safety anytime G was alone with her.
G told authorities that she had gotten “a little too rough” with the victim when feeling frustrated and overwhelmed.
Medical staff told authorities the injuries suffered by the victim are consistent with tugging and pulling and that the number of fractures was “alarmingly high.”
G is currently being held without bond at the Alachua County Jail.
“We are proud of the compassionate and diligent work of Detective Wenk and all the deputies and detectives involved in this investigation,” the sheriff’s office stated. “Their commitment to seeking justice in the face of difficult and emotional circumstances reflects our agency’s ongoing mission to protect our most vulnerable residents. We will continue to work tirelessly to ensure the safety of every child in our community.”
