2 injured in crash involving Largo police cruiser

A Largo police officer, along with one other individual, was injured in a traffic crash that occurred Sunday in Pinellas County.

According to the Largo Police Department, at 2:30 p.m., deputies responded to a vehicle crash at East Bay Drive and Country Club Drive.

The crash involved a vehicle and a Largo police cruiser. Both the officer and the driver of the vehicle were injured and taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.

Duke Energy was on the scene working to repair a power pole that was hit during the crash, though the circumstances are unknown.

The Largo Police Department is investigating the incident. As of 5:13 p.m., all westbound lanes of East Bay Drive were closed and traffic was being diverted at Alt. Keen Road.
