A Century man was hospitalized after being shot in his bedroom early Tuesday morning, according to the Escambia County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies say the incident occurred around 3:20 a.m. on the 1600 block of Ashford Alley, off Jefferson Avenue. The victim stated he was asleep in his bedroom when the door opened, and he was shot.

The sheriff’s office said the victim sustained injuries to his eye and right arm. Despite his injuries, he managed to walk down the street to call 911.

He was flown to a local hospital, but his current condition remains unknown.

Deputies have not identified any suspects.

The victim informed deputies that he was home alone at the time of the shooting and does not have a roommate. He also said he did not see the suspect.
