Panama City Beach man arrested for hit-and-run incident

The Panama City Police Department arrested a man who was allegedly involved in a hit-and-run incident shortly after midnight on Wednesday.

JW, 21, of Panama City Beach, was taken into custody after officers said he struck a bicyclist and kept driving in the area of Michigan Ave. and 23rd Street.

The bicyclist was injured and taken to the hospital for treatment.

According to an arrest affidavit, through camera footage, investigators were able to see the license plate of the grey Mitsubishi car hitting the bicyclist, and eventually use that information to track the vehicle.

W is scheduled for his first appearance before a Bay County judge Wednesday afternoon.
