A 57-year-old woman riding a bicycle on Chester Road in Yulee was struck and killed Thursday night by an SUV that fled the scene, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
Troopers said the bicyclist was headed north on Chester Road, approaching Sweetbriar Lane, about 2.3 miles north of State Road 200, when she was hit around 11 p.m. and knocked off her bicycle.
According to the FHP report, the SUV that struck the woman was described as a white 2020-2022 Kia Telluride with damage to its front and right side.
The bicyclist, who was not wearing a helmet, died from her injuries.
