A deadly crash closed an Okeechobee County highway on Thursday morning and officials are asking drivers to seek alternate routes.
The Okeechobee County Sheriff’s Office reported the wreck around 6:30 a.m., saying it happened in the northbound lanes of Highway 441, near the Fort Drum General Store. The highway is closed in both directions.
The Florida Highway Patrol confirmed that at least one person died in the collision.
Few other details about the wreck have been released. Officials have not confirmed at this time how many vehicles were involved or what happened.
The Sheriff’s Office advised that it will provide updates when the road is open again.
