A man was arrested after he allegedly punched a Miami Police officer and another person in Allapattah on Wednesday.
Police said they were called around 4:45 p.m. to a home at 1480 Northwest 30th Street where officers made contact with EM, 49, who claimed someone had hit him on the head with a metal rebar.
Authorities said they did not have probable cause to make an arrest, so they told M to call Miami Police again in the event of more evidence.
“Mr. M became irate upon learning that no arrest would be made,” according to an arrest report. M allegedly said he would beat up the person who hit him if police did not arrest them.
While officers collected both people’s information to prepare case cards and complete a police report, authorities said M punched the other person in the face.
As an officer tried to intervene, M allegedly punched him too, causing a laceration to the officer’s left eyebrow.
That officer was taken to the hospital, where he received stitches for the cut, the arrest report states.
M was arrested and charged with battery and battery on a law enforcement officer.
