Alachua County Sheriff’s Office patrol vehicle bursts into flames

An Alachua County Sheriff’s Office deputy was able to get to safety before his patrol vehicle suddenly caught on fire on Wednesday night.

Officials say he noticed his vehicle was suddenly losing speed and stopped to investigate.

When he opened the door, flames erupted from beneath the vehicle. The deputy escaped just before flames consumed the vehicle.

“This incident is a stark reminder that our deputies face unexpected dangers every day — and sometimes, those dangers come from places we least expect,” the sheriff’s office posted on social media. “We’re grateful our deputy was unharmed and thank all first responders who assisted at the scene.”
