A train derailed in southeast Ocala on Friday morning, leaving several of its cars lying on their sides.
Ocala Fire Rescue units responded to reports of a train derailment behind the Cypresside Townhomes at 2223 SE 14th Avenue on Friday, July 25, at around 11:16 a.m.
Upon arrival, crews encountered multiple Florida Northern freight cars that had derailed from the track. According to OFR, the train consisted of two engines and eight cars, all of which had derailed.
Three of the eight cars were lying on their sides, while cargo and rocks were scattered across the ground.
According to OFR, the two crew members on board the train at the time of the incident were left uninjured.
The state is still investigating the incident.
