An Arcadia man is accused of violently shaking his two-month-old child in the parking lot of Nauti Parrot Oasis in south Fort Myers.
IR, 24, was in the parking lot with the child as his friends were at the bar. According to the Lee County Sheriff’s Office, the next morning, the child began throwing up, and the baby’s mother sought medical attention.
LCSO detectives then met with R. According to the sheriff’s office, R told detectives that he shook the infant out of frustration because the baby would not stop crying.
Hospital staff confirmed the child suffered from shaken baby syndrome. However, they stated there would not be any lasting injuries.
LCSO presented the case to the State Attorney’s Office, and a warrant was issued for R on a child abuse charge.
R was arrested earlier this week by the Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office and booked into the Charlotte County Jail. LCSO said he has since been released on bond.
