Florida Highway Patrol troopers are looking for whoever shot a man driving on Interstate 4 in Volusia County on Friday, according to a statement.
The shooting occurred around 7 p.m. in the area of mile marker 109, south of exits to Saxon Boulevard, an FHP spokesperson said.
An unknown black SUV cut off the victim — identified as a 23-year-old man — while he was traveling in the inside eastbound lane, the statement reads. The victim then moved over into the central lane and got parallel with the suspect’s vehicle, the spokesperson said, adding he had his window down and his arm outside.
The victim then allegedly heard a gunshot and realized he had been shot in the left arm, according to the statement. He exited I-4 onto Saxon Boulevard and called law enforcement before being taken to the hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries, the statement reads.
Though he couldn’t provide a tag number for the suspect vehicle or a description of a shooter, the victim described a black SUV with a male driver and a female passenger.
Anyone with information about the case is urged to contact FHP or Crimeline.
FHP is still investigating.
