A 31-year-old driver died and her 12-year-old passenger was seriously hurt Saturday afternoon when their car hit a tree on US 90 in Baker County, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
According to the crash report, the car was headed west on US 90, approaching County Road 250A, when it slid off the roadway sideways across the grass on the right side of the road at around 4:40 p.m.
Troopers said the front driver’s side corner hit a tree, sending the car into a slight spin before the driver’s door hit another tree.
The woman died at the scene, and the 12-year-old girl was taken to Wolfson Children’s Hospital with serious injuries, FHP said.
Both were wearing seat belts, according to the report.
