Woman, 2 animals die in Palm Bay house fire

An elderly woman and two animals died on Tuesday in a house fire in Palm Bay, according to firefighters.

Palm Bay Fire Rescue said they responded to the home on Furth Road NW around 2 p.m. When crews arrived, they found a single-story home with “heavy fire involvement” in one of the bedrooms.

According to a news release, occupants of the home reported that someone was still inside the burning home.

While searching the home, firefighters found the woman, a dog and a cat dead inside.

All other occupants were able to exit the home without injury.

Palm Bay Fire Rescue said they were assisted at the scene by the Palm Bay Police Department and Brevard County Fire Rescue.

The State Fire Marshal’s Office is working in coordination with the Palm Bay Police Department Crime Scene Unit to determine the cause and circumstances of the fire.
