Boy, 15, arrested after cops say he murdered brother, dumped body near Dania Beach canal

Broward County deputies announced an arrest on Wednesday in connection with a body found near a Dania Beach canal the day prior.

Authorities said it was a murder ― and the suspect was the victim’s teenage brother.

According to the Broward Sheriff’s Office, the agency received a call at around 8 a.m. Tuesday reporting the body near Ocean Waterway Boulevard and Old Griffin Road.

They said deputies found KD, 23, dead with multiple gunshot wounds.

According to BSO, deputies determined that D’s 15-year-old brother, DF, “intentionally shot and killed” D at their home on Southwest Sixth Avenue, about a mile away from the scene, then drove his body to the wooded area and left it there.

Their mother, MJ, told Local 10 News on Wednesday that she is in shock and doesn’t have the words to explain how she’s feeling, saying she lost both of her sons.

J said she spoke with her son Tuesday morning to make sure he made it to the bus stop, but he never mentioned anything about D, who, according to an arrest report, had been last seen alive Sunday and was later reported missing.

“I remember at 6:29 I called him to get out of the house,” she said. “Twice I called him, he never said anything. Nothing. And he knew he killed K and dumped K by the lake. Drove K’s car and put it by the city library parking lot.

“Fifteen times, he shot K to make sure he didn’t survive.”

Deputies took Fleurimond to the Juvenile Assessment Center on a first-degree murder charge.

He’s set to appear in court at 11 a.m. Thursday.
