Officers say a cyclist was struck on US Highway 90 in Lake City near Interstate 75.
Officers say they found a person lying in the outside lane of the highway with a significant head injury on Tuesday around 9:30 p.m. A bicycle was nearby.
The driver told officers he was headed west on the highway when a person on a bicycle suddenly appeared in his lane. The vehicle then collided with the victim.
A witness reportedly corroborated the driver’s account. The Lake City Police Department’s Traffic Unit will continue the investigation.
