A man in his mid-20s was taken to the hospital Tuesday night after Tampa police said he was attacked by a person with a box cutter outside a local laundromat.
It was around 10 p.m. when the suspect, DS, 60, walked up to the man in the parking lot of a laundromat off North 40th Street, a spokesperson for the Tampa Police Department said.
Investigators said the men knew each other prior to the incident. S claimed the man owed him money from earlier in the day, but when the man refused to give him any money, police said Singleton began chasing him with a box cutter.
S swung the box cutter multiple times, slashing the man at least twice, authorities said.
First responders took the man to a nearby hospital for medical treatment. Police said his injuries were non-life-threatening.
S took off on foot but was quickly found by officers and placed under arrest, according to the police department.
Records show he was booked into jail on charges for aggravated battery with great bodily harm or a deadly weapon, robbery, and failure to appear for a previous court date.
